Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition's 2009 Viral Video Contest
The Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition (SVTC) wants you to create a fun and fresh video that informs people about the growing problem of highly toxic e-waste and encourages them to use responsible recyclers.
Entries will be accepted from Earth Day, April 22, 2009, 12:00 midnight PDST, until the DTV switchover, June 12, 2009, 11:59 p.m. PDST. Winners will be announced in our July 2009 E-alert and on the front page of our website, www.svtc.org.
What's in it for you?
1st Place - $500

What do we want from you?

1. | Video must be no longer than 90 seconds. Be sure to... |

A. feature the human and environmental impacts of e-waste
|
|
|
B. also feature the toxic chemicals found in e-waste
|
|
|
C. encourage people to be active in ameliorating the e-waste problem by using responsible recyclers and telling others to use responsible recyclers
|
|
|
D. show what it means to recycle responsibly
|
|
|
2. | Contestants are encouraged to use footage from SVTC's video, Citizens at Risk. |
|
3. | Videos must be submitted between April 22, 2009, 12:00 midnight PDST and June 12, 2009, 11:59 p.m. PDST. |
How do you submit a video?
Videos must be submitted on YouTube.com
1. Join the SVTC Viral Video group on YouTube.
2. Add your video to the group.
3. Complete the entry form. Note: Entries will not be judged unless SVTC has received a completed entry form by June 12, 2009, 11:59p.m. PDST.
Who's judging the contest?

Can you enter the contest? Eligibility:
Are you over eighteen? Are you a US resident? Do you know any of the judges? If you answered “yes” to the first two and “no” to the last, film away!
If not, read below...
Anyone over the age of 18 may upload his or her videos on YouTube. Contestants under the age of 18 should have their parents or guardians upload the video.
Everyone is welcomed to submit videos. However, only US residents are eligible for cash prizes.
Employees from the organizations represented on the judging panel and their immediate family may submit videos, but are not eligible to win.
What are the contest rules?
By submitting a video, contestants certify that no other person owns any portion of the content of their videos.
By submitting videos, contestants grant Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition (SVTC) royalty-free license to copy, edit, distribute, publicly perform, publish videos and make other uses of the video in any format or medium.
Videos deemed inappropriate or offensive by Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition will not be eligible and will be removed.
Video submission and contest entry form must be completed and submitted by June 12, 2009, 11:59 p.m. PDST for prize eligibility.
Entrants under the age of 18 must obtain permission from legal guardian.
Contest void where prohibited.
